HIN - Hull Identification Numbers
- A HIN is an identification number for registered, powered recreational vessels in Western Australia that is required for all new vessel's manufactured after February 2001
- The HIN is recorded on the vessel's registration certificate
- A HIN isn't compulsory on recreational vessel's built before February 2001 unless the vessel is is to be sold and the registration transferred to new owners
- Recreational vessel's in WA cant have the existing registration transferred to a new owner without a verified HIN being on the hull and registration certificate
- You can legally own a vessel built before February 2001 and have it registered in your name that doesn't have a HIN, but if you sell the boat, the registration cant be transferred to a new owner until a HIN is assigned and a HIN certificate issued
